Western Arctic Explorer
8 days and 7 nights

Take an exciting small group tour through Canada’s only road-accessible Arctic!  Departing from Whitehorse, Yukon, on our Western Arcitc Tour you’ll travel many of the North’s legendary roads; the Alaska Highway, the North Klondike Highway and the Dempster, Canada’s only to cross the Arctic Circle. 

Along the way, we’ll visit Dawson City, home of the Klondike Gold Rush, the greatest the world has ever seen. To complete the trip we’ll fly to Tuktoyuktuk, an Inuvialuit (Inuit) settlement on the shores of the Arctic Ocean.

Travel Itinerary:

Day 01 - Whitehorse
After arriving at the airport we’ll transfer you to the Hotel in downtown Whitehorse. Meet your guide and the other participants for an information meeting. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 02 - Dawson City
See the Five Finger Rapids and cross some of the great northern rivers: Yukon River, Pelly and Stewart River. Evening free to explore the boardwalks and enjoy the well restored buildings.

Day 03 - Dawson City
Explore the Gold Fields! We’ll drive the Dome Road and visit Dredge #4, Discovery Claim and an active placer gold mine, where we’ll try our luck at panning for gold. Diamond Tooth Gertie’s Casino tonight!

Day 04 - Eagle Plains
Unsurpassed views, overwhelming beauty and immense landscapes await you today. Route travels through Tombstone Territorial Park and crosses several mountain passes to reach Eagle Plains in late afternoon.

Day 05 - Inuvik
We’ll cross the Arctic Circle this morning and continue through the Richardson Mountains, with its panoramic views of the Richardson Mountains. We’ll visit Fort MacPherson and cross 2 rivers by ferry.

Day 06 - Tuktoyuktuk Day Tour
Today we’ll fly by small aircraft to Tuktoyaktuk on the shores of the Beaufort Sea (Arctic Ocean). Get to know the Inuvialuit (Inuit), who still largely live a subsistence lifestyle, and dip your toe in the Arctic!

Day 07 - Whitehorse
Time to explore the small village and to talk to some of the locals before flying to Whitehorse. You’ll marvel at the expanse of the Western Arctic interior. Transfer to hotel on arrival. Enjoy a last dinner with new friends.

Day 08 - Whitehorse
Transfer to airport. End.
